The Barnard Fire District is thrilled to announce the winners of the "Win a Ride in a Fire Truck" contest: Layla and her brother Carter, students at Longridge Elementary School, along with their teacher, Mrs. Yancey! Layla's entry stood out among hundreds of submissions from the entire school. In addition to submitting a winning EDITH plan, Layla and her family showcased outstanding fire safety awareness by developing a successful home evacuation plan. As their prize, Layla, Carter, and Mrs. Yancey enjoyed an exciting ride in a Barnard Firetruck on Tuesday, November 19 with Firefighter Dean Smith. Commissioner and Past Fire Chief John Norris and Fire Fighter Hlebowicz. They were dropped off at Longridge Elementary, where their classmates greeted them with cheers and congratulations. A big congratulations to Layla, Carter, Mrs. Yancey, and their family for this well-earned recognition! Thank you to everyone who participated and made the contest a success. A special shoutout to Firefighter Dean for his ongoing dedication to promoting fire safety and education in our schools! On Friday November 22nd (in the pouring rain) our Barnard engine had the honor of delivering a student to the English Village School as well, along with Fire Fighter Dean Smith and Fire Fighter Shoemaker. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the contest. There were many excellent entries to review.
